Service Description
Our Intro to Cycling course is designed for girls aged 13-16 looking to learn cycling skills and improve their endurance. This course is the perfect complement to your current athletic sport, whether it's track, crew, swimming, soccer, etc. With sessions meeting once a week, we'll focus on teaching bike fundamentals, learning bike handling skills, and introducing bike endurance and varied-intensity training. Each week will have a different focus on how cycling relates to STEAM principles. For example, learning the physics and engineering behind bike handling, how to calculate HR zones, and conducting field tests. We will incorporate indoor trainer rides on Wahoo smart trainers utilizing the Zwift gaming platform as well as outdoor skills sessions on a private low-traffic road. At the end of the session, girls will have the option to compete in a local bike ride/race or sprint triathlon. Equipment: Athletes should bring workout clothes, a water bottle, and their bike, helmet, and cycling shoes or sneakers. Bike rentals (during class times) are available for the duration of the course. Please indicate if you will need this on the athlete input form at checkout.
